Mixed-Criticality Scheduling to Minimize Makespan
نویسندگان
چکیده
In the mixed-criticality job model, each job is characterized by two execution time parameters, representing a smaller (less conservative) estimate and a larger (more conservative) estimate on its actual, unknown, execution time. Each job is further classified as being either less critical or more critical. The desired execution semantics are that all jobs should execute correctly provided all jobs complete upon being allowed to execute for up to the smaller of their execution time estimates, whereas if some jobs need to execute beyond their smaller execution time estimates (but not beyond their larger execution time estimates), then only the jobs classified as being more critical are required to execute correctly. The scheduling of collections of such mixed-criticality jobs upon identical multiprocessor platforms in order to minimize the makespan is considered here. 1998 ACM Subject Classification D.4.1 Scheduling, D.4.7 Real-time systems and embedded systems

On Solving Non-preemptive Mixed-criticality Match-up Scheduling Problem with Two and Three Criticality Levels
In this paper, we study an NP-hard problem of a single machine scheduling minimizing the makespan, where the mixed-critical tasks with uncertain processing time are scheduled. We show the derivation of F-shaped tasks from the probability distribution function of the processing time, then we study the structure of problems with two and three criticality levels for which we propose efficient exac...
متن کاملHigh performance real-time scheduling of multiple mixed-criticality functions in heterogeneous distributed embedded systems
The architectures of high-end embedded system have evolved into heterogeneous distributed integrated architectures. The scheduling of multiple distributed mixed-criticality functions in heterogeneous distributed embedded systems is a considerable challenge because of the different requirements of systems and functions. Overall scheduling length (i.e., makespan) is the main concern in system per...
متن کاملAgent-based approach for cooperative scheduling
This paper studies the multi-factory production (MFP) network scheduling problem where a number of different individual factories join together to form a MFP network, in which these factories can operate more economically than operating individually. However, in such network which known as virtual production network with self-interested factories with transportation times, each individual facto...
متن کاملFlow Shop Scheduling Problem with Missing Operations: Genetic Algorithm and Tabu Search
Flow shop scheduling problem with missing operations is studied in this paper. Missing operations assumption refers to the fact that at least one job does not visit one machine in the production process. A mixed-binary integer programming model has been presented for this problem to minimize the makespan. The genetic algorithm (GA) and tabu search (TS) are used to deal with the optimization...
متن کاملA Novel Metaheuristics To Solve Mixed Shop Scheduling Problems
This paper represents the metaheuristics proposed for solving a class of Shop Scheduling problem. The Bacterial Foraging Optimization algorithm is featured with Ant Colony Optimization algorithm and proposed as a natural inspired computing approach to solve the Mixed Shop Scheduling problem. The Mixed Shop is the combination of Job Shop, Flow Shop and Open Shop scheduling problems. The sample i...
